The beauty of an Iyengar yoga class is in the explanation of the science behind its art. The only requirement to experience a glimmer of “sthiram sukham asanam” seems to be a sincere attempt to follow instructions to the best of one’s ability.

One of the last asanas today was the urdhva dhanurasana and it was a calm, composed pose where I felt I could stay for long and in tranquility. The lead up to it took us through adho mukha svanasana, janu sirsasana and trikonasana. The focus muscle was the gluteus medius and we used that awareness in all the asanas.
